I searched for James in the 1851 Census using ancestry.com using the following criteria:

James Lawes (Spelling Soundex)
Male
Birth yr: 1793 + - 10yrs
Norfolk

It came back with 18 matches. I than narrowed this list down by hand checking only those entries who were born in Norwich and or were living in or around Norwich at the time of the census.

This left me with 5 entries

The most likely match is the one in red, but I still need to do some more reasearch to eliminate or keep the others.
